The mission of University Networking & Infrastructure (UNI) is to design, implement and manage solutions which provide for the University's voice, data and video communications. Services provided by UNI include installation and maintenance of metallic and optical cabling, network architectural design, software specification and configuration; and the specification, operation and maintenance of transmission hardware and software.

Description

The mission of University Networking & Infrastructure (UNI) is to design, implement and manage solutions which provide for the University's voice, data and video communications. Services provided by UNI include installation and maintenance of metallic and optical cabling, network architectural design, software specification and configuration; and the specification, operation and maintenance of transmission hardware and software.

University Networking & Infrastructure (UNI) reserves the hours between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays to perform scheduled maintenance and upgrades to the network. UNI will notify the departments via the Network Contacts of any emergency maintenance that must be performed outside this window. Departments which have critical need for the network during the reserved window should coordinate with their deans and vice chancellors to notify UNI in advance. However, you are discouraged from scheduling critical functions within this window.

Faculty and Staff and Contractors with a valid LSU Budget Code.

This request requires that you submit a University Networking and Infrastructure(UNI) work order. All additions, moves or changes to any network connection, port, or device (wired or wireless), telephones, cellular devices, active directory and email require a UNI work order.   Many of these requests may have fees or require budget code changes that must be documented and CANNOT be Processed via a Help Request

Once the request is submitted, initial contact from a UNI analyst should happen within 48 hours.

Fees

Fees depend on the request.  A general estimate can be requested.  Fixed cost estimates are provided by Facility Services and take additional time and charges may apply from Facility Services for these estimates.
